Bio: VINCENT ? John W. Huck Sr., 89, of 10268 State Route 676, Vincent, died Tuesday (March 27, 2007) at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.He was born Aug. 9, 1917, in Lowell, a son of Joseph and Ida Schaad Huck. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the 8th Army Air Force as a mechanic on the B-17 Bomber in England. He had worked as a skilled machinist at Ideco and Rampp Company in Marietta, until his retirement in 1979. John was a skilled and avid farmer, gardener and woodworker. He had attended the Fisher School and Lowell High School. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Churchtown, where he belonged to the Holy Name Society, and Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th Degree Knight. John was a member of VFW Post 5108, Marietta, and American Legion Post 750, Lowell. He was also a member of Churchtown Senior Citizens, a 50-plus year member of the Farm Bureau and had been a Democratic Central Committee member. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather.On July 14, 1945, he married Mary Luella Arnold, who survives. He was the father of eight children, Virginia Dyar (Gerald) of Marietta, Marlene Greene (Gregory) and Damian Huck (Lisa) of Lowell, Arnold Huck (Patty) and John "Jan" Huck Jr. (Billie) of Vincent, Elaine Huck of Marysville, Roseria Brockmeier of Massillon and Stan Huck of Winston Salem, N.C. He had 16 grandchildren, Tricia Schwendeman (Kenley) of Vincent, Matthew Greene (Jennifer) of Pataskala, Erica Dyar, Kendra Dyar and Gregory Greene (Elizabeth) of Columbus, Vanessa Stollar (Darren) of Waterford, Michael Brockmeier of Dayton, Jason Huck (Amy) and Ryan Dyar of Marietta, Melanie Wentworth (Steven) of Pleasant City, Jeffrey Brockmeier, stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany, Denise Nahvi (Justin) of Marysville, Katrina Greene of Chicago, Ill., Jessica Brockmeier of Cincinnati, and Ivan and Rachel Huck of Lowell; and four great-grandchildren, Averi Schwendeman, Lucas Stollar, Olivia Huck and Gunnar Greene. He is also survived by four sisters and one brother, Rita Bishop of Tampa, Fla., Margaret Miller of Beverly, Gertrude Arnold of Waterford, Mildred Schwendeman (Jerry) and James Huck (Peggy) of Lowell; and a sister-in-law, Helen Huck of Waterford. He was the uncle of many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Walter, Joseph and Alfred.Funeral liturgy, with Mass, will be held at 10 a.m. today (March 30, 2007) at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Fred Kihm and the Rev. Tim Huffman as concelebrants. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with full military rites being observed. Calling hours, a vigil service and the praying of the rosary were held Thursday at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home.
