Bio: Arlen "Hoppy" U. Dusseau, 78 a lifetime Erie, MI. resident went to his eternal rest on Thursday, February 2, 2012, surrounded by his immediate family, relatives, and friends. Born December 15, 1933, in Erie, MI, he was the son of Aloysius "Wish" and Mildred (Morrin) Dusseau. Arlen and Beverly A. Hoffman were joined in Holy Matrimony October 6, 1956, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie, MI where they are charter members. After farming with family for many years, Hoppy became a co-owner of a John Deere dealership called Dusseau's Equipment Sales on Lewis Ave., in Temperance, MI, and still continued farming, eventually becoming the sole owner of the John Deere dealership keeping the name Dusseau's. After 47 years in small and large farm equipment sales, Hoppy re-directed the business to Dusseau's Reception Center and Catering. Hoppy retired in 1998, after selling the family business to his son Mark A. Dusseau, while upholding the family name Dusseau's Reception Center and Catering. Although "retiring" Hoppy continued working at the hall until recently. He was a charter member (4th degree) of the K of C Council 7413 in Erie. Through the association he was a volunteer for bingo. With the help of his wife, he was an original founder of the Erie Food Closet. The Erie Food Closet is still housed in the K of C building in Erie, MI in which the K of C and Ladies Auxiliary are presently operating. He served as the Building Inspector for Erie Twp. Hoppy enjoyed playing his guitar and Bluegrass music, boating on Lake Erie, in Florida and at the summer home on Posey Lake. Fishing, playing Euchre, and having family and friends gatherings were always of great joy to him as well. Surviving are his wife Beverly A. (Hoffman) Dusseau, his three loving children, Mark A. (Kathy) Dusseau, Scott A. Dusseau, and Joy S. (Christopher) Dieter. And adoring Grandchildren, Nicholas A. (Jennifer) Dusseau, Megan E. Lajiness, Chanelle L. Dusseau, Joshua M. Lajiness, Mark A. Dusseau II, Brandi J. Dusseau, Alexander C. Dieter, Corey S. Dusseau, Joshua D. (Martha) Dieter, Brandon F. Dieter, Makayla A. Dieter, Kristeen A. Godlewski, Dawn M. Godlewski, Joshua D. Godlewski. Great grandchildren, Tyler and Gavin Dusseau, Chloe-Marie and Emma Dieter, and David Worrell II. Sisters; Kathleen (Dusseau) Koritko of Virginia, Yvonne (Dusseau) Prezeniczny of Toledo, Sandra (Dusseau) McGaffey of Erie, Suzanne (Dusseau) Cousino of Temperance. Brother; James (Peter) Dusseau of Erie, Hoppy was preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius "Wish" and Mildred (Morrin) Dusseau, and brother; Ronald Dusseau. Visitations will be from 2 - 9 pm Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI where the K of C 7413, will hold services Friday at 7:00pm followed by the Rosary at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 11:00am in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie, MI, where he will lie in state after 10:00am. Fr. Fred Kalaj, officiating.
