He was a parish priest in the Diocese of Peoria. He was first assistant at St. Mary's Church, Pesotum, at St. Mary's Church, East Moline, and at St. Patrick's Church, Peoria. He later was administrator at St. Michael's, Bement, and then was chaplain at St. Anthony's Hospital, Rock Island and at East Moline State Hospital.In 1955, he became pastor of St. Mary's Church, Tiskilwa, and then was pastor at St. Joseph's Church, Pesotum; St. Mary's Church, Lorettoo; and Our Lady of Guadalupe, Silvis.
