Schale, 61, were held at the Fairview Mennonite Brethren church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Loyal Funk officiating. Burial, under the direction of the Speece Funeral home, was in the South Mennonite Brethren cemetery.Schale died Thursday at an Enid hospital. He had suffered a heart attack several years ago, but had remained active, in spite of intermittent attacks. His condition worsened about three months ago and he was taken to the hospital when it became critical about two weeks ago.Born at Hillsboro, Kansas, he moved here with his parents at the opening of the Cherokee Strip. The family homesteaded northwest of Fairview and he was still farming in this area at the time of his death. He also had earned quite a reputation as an auctioneer and much of his time was spent in this pursuit.A member of the Mennonite Brethren church, he played an active part in the life of the church, singing in the male chorus, and until his illness three months ago, taught a Sunday school class. During the past few years he had directed a regular radio broadcast from an Enid station. The program, sponsored by him, featured the "Melody" quartet.He is survived by his wife Ruby of the home, a son, Martin, Clovis, N.M.; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Cline, Whittier, Calif., and Mrs. Berdine Sharp, Lubbock, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Emil Faul and Mrs. Tony Seibel, Harvey, N. Dakota, Mrs. Fred Hein, Fairview, and Mrs. Sam Fox, Okeene; three brothers, Joe Schale, Bismark, N. Dakota, Raymond Schale, Harvey, N. Dakota, and Jack Schale, Enid; also a halp-brother, Dr. Otto Faul, Harvey, and seven grandchildren.
