Bio: 72y 17d Indiana Progress, Indiana, PA, Wednesday, January 15, 1896Mrs. Magdaline Rairigh, widow of the late George Rairigh, of Grant township, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Amanda Cassidy, of Montgomery township, on January 7, aged 72 years and 17 days. The deceased was born in Somerset county and her maiden name was Spicher. Shortly after her marriage Mrs. Rairigh and her husband moved to Grant township, this county. October 31, 1875, her husband died leaving her a large family of children. Those living are Rev. Isaiah Rairigh, of Barry county, Mich.; Daniel and Mrs. Amanda Cassidy, of Montgomery township; John R., of grant township; Mrs. Magdaline Low, of Marion Center; Rev. G. S. Rairigh, of Johnstown; H. S., of Belsano, and Mrs. Sara Fleming, of this place. She was the grandmother of 42 children and 12 great-grandchildren. The deceased was a member of the Dunkard church. Her remains were interred in the Montgomery church graveyard on ThursdayIndiana Democrat, Indiana, PA, January 16, 1896Mrs. Magdaline Rairigh died Jan. 7, at the residence of her daugther, Mrs. Amanda Cassidy, of Montgomery twp., aged 72 years and 17 days. She was born in Somerset county, Pa., December 21, 1823. Her maiden name was Magdalene Spicher. In 1839 she married George Rairigh. Shortly after her marriage she with her husband moved to Grant twp., where she lived until a few years ago. Her husband died on Oct. 31, 1875. They were well adapted to endure the hardships, which the early pioneers of the "40's" encountered. The neighbors were few; here and there a log cabin could be seen. She united with the Dunkard church shortly after her marriage of which she has been a faithful member ever since. She was a kind and loving mother. Always present where there was sickness. She was the mother of twelve children, eight of whom are living. The living are Rev. Isaiah, of Barry county, Mich.; Daniel of Montgomery twp.; John R., of Grant twp.; Mrs. Magdalene Law, of Marion Center; Rev. G. S., of Johnstown, Pa.; Mrs. Amanda Cassidy, of Mongomery twp.; H. S., of Belsano, Cambria county; Mrs. Sarah A. Fleming, and of this place. The deceased are Lizzie, who married, Jonathan Walker, of Osceola, died in 1862. Samuel, who died when about 5 years old. Peter and another who died in infancy. She was the grandmother of forty-two children and twelve great-grandchildren.
