Bio: George T. Church Jr., 82, of Ligonier, died Thursday evening, Dec. 23, 2004, at his home.Born July 4, 1922, in Butler, he was the son of George T. Sr. and Vera Gerner Church.He retired in 1980, after working as a land manager of several counties for the Pennsylvania Game Commission.A veteran of the Navy, he served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.He was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church and the U.S.L.S.T. Association and was an official measurer for the Boone and Crockett Club.Mr. Church was also a 50-year member of the Syria Shrine and a member of the National Wildlife Federation, the Loyalhanna Watershed Association, the New Castle Lodge F&AM and the Pittsburgh Consistory.He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. David (Cynthia) Thomas of Sewickley; a son, Paul G. Church of Ligonier; and five grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Muriel Klinzing Church, who died Jan. 7; and a sister.CHURCH - A celebration of the life of George T. Church, who died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ligonier, officiated by the Rev. Paul William Oesterlin. Burial is private and will be in the Ligonier Valley Cemetery.The Ligonier Valley Veteran's Honor Guard will present full military honors following the service at the church.Memorial contributions may be made to the Loyalhanna Watershed Association or to Westmoreland Hospice.Arrangements are by J.
