Frank was born the son of Emanuel and Catherine Hartman on June 18, 1928, in Killdeer, N.D. "He was the seventh of eight children raised on the family farm near Fayette, N.D. Frank married Theresa Schmidt on Oct. 11, 1948, to which five children were born. After 46 years of marriage, our mother died in May 1994."Frank?s hardworking career included the Cenex in Worden, Consolidated Freightways and Dyce Chemical. Upon partial retirement, he drove school bus in Billings for several years. It was in this job that Frank met and married Mitzie Hardy Reemts in 1995. "Frank and Mitzie loved to dance and were actively involved in the Big Sky Polka Club, Frank being the President for several years. They enjoyed traveling with special friends Herman and Dorothy Hauck and Matt Earhart to polka festivals across the Northwest, especially if his favorite group The Don Roller Band was playing. Frank and Mitzie also volunteered at Little Flower Church."Frank is survived by his wife Mitzie; his four children, Chuck (Carol), Gordon (Eleanor), Valerie (Hank) Mellgren, and Candice (Andy) Nelson. Grandchildren include Frank, Jeff, Casey and Carl Hartman, Chelsea Wagner, Cooper, Max, and Zella Nelson and one great-grandchild, Carson."Also surviving are Mitzi?s children Rod, Sandy, Dave (Joan), Mike (Mike), Doug (Lorri), Kim (Jeff) and Tina (Joe). He is survived by one sister, Ann Wittinger of Portland, Ore. Frank is preceded in death by first wife, Theresa; 1-day-old son Jimmy; siblings Manny Hartman, Katherine, Adolph, Ida, Tillie and Tony."Frank will be missed by many and will be remembered for always lending a hand to anyone who needed it.
