Bio: Funeral services for Martha V. Winckler were held Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at United Methodist Church, Scotland, with the Pastor Kathy Kluis officiating. Music was furnished by the congregation, her great-grandchildren, and Glee Deutscher, organist.Interment was made in the Gracehill Cemetery, Tripp, with Goglin Funeral Home, Scotland, in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Craig Winckler, Charles Winckler, John Finck, Joe Bouza, Wayne Winckler, and Jerome Hoff.Martha Viola Winckler was born on Monday, June 8, 1908, on the farm near Tripp in Bon Homme County that her grandfather and father homesteaded. Her parents were August and Mary (Heihn) Wiederrich. She graduated from rural Emanuel School and was confirmed in faith by Rev. Ulrich Zogg on July 9, 1922, in the Immanuel Evangelical Reformed Church in rural Bon Homme County.She was united in marriage to Albert Winckler in her parent's home on December 15, 1929, by the Rev. K.J. Stuebbe. She worked with her husband on a farm northwest of Tyndall for 21 years before they built their own farm five miles south of Tripp. They retired and moved to Scotland in 1987.She entered the Menno-Olivet Care Center in January of 1998 and after a long hospitalization, she moved into the Scotland Good Samaritan Center in June of 2005.She died on Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Scotland Good Samaritan Center at the age of 98 years, seven months, and 17 days.She is survived by a son, Lowell Winckler and wife, Rosemarie, Scotland; grandchildren, Craig Winckler and wife, Dorene, Scotland, Charles Winckler and wife, Kelli, Sioux Falls, and Cheryl DeMent and husband, Jeffrey, Athol, Idaho; 10 great-granchildren; brother-in-law, Bernhard Winckler and wife, Sophia, Tyndall; two sisters-in-law, Edna Winckler, Yankton, and Violet Hufford, Mitchell; and numerous relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, on February 17, 2000; one grandson, Stephen Winckler; her parents, August and Mary Wiederrich; two brothers, Ted and Emanuel Wiederrich; a sister, Serola Schneider; eight brothers-in-law; and nine sisters-in-law.Parkston Advance
