The funeral for Walter Max Schnabel, Napoleon, ND will be held Monday, August 6, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 PM to 700 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at the Napoleon City Cemetery.
Walter M. Schnabel son of Daniel and Grace Mae (Farnam) Schnabel was born November 30, 1929 at Burnstad, ND. Walter attended country school up to 8th grade. After school he worked on the family farm. While at school he met the love of his life, Kathryn (Katie) Hildenbrand. They married on October 29, 1950. They had six children. Walter worked in the oil fields, farmed and moved to town in 1966. He worked for Alvin Scherr and Elmer Neigum doing concrete work. Later Walter owned and operated Walt?s Feed Grinding.
Walter died Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, ND. He was 88 years old.
Walter is survived by four sons; Danny of Cambridge, MN, Gary of Bismarck, ND, Randy (Judy) of Lincoln, ND; David (Tam) of Glendale, AZ; one daughter, Karen (Jerry) Bauer of Bancroft, IA; his grandchildren, Susanna (Eric) Dewey, Daniel (Brenda) Schnabel, Joe (Jodi) Schnabel, Thomas (Maria) Schnabel, Christiana (Matt) Gartner, Richard Schnabel, Michael (Nicole) Schnabel, Carey (Pierce) Taing, Nicholas (Angie) Schnabel, Brandon (Molly) Bauer, Matt (Brittany) Bauer, Eric Bauer, 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. five sisters, Mary Lehr, Truman, MN; Dena Stoller, Sun City, AZ; JoAnne Wentz, Napoleon, ND; Betty Himmerich, Stark City, MO, and Rebecca (James) Zahradka, Purdy, MO; one brother, Charles (Nancy) Schnabel, Ashley, ND; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Katie, youngest son Alan who died April 1986 while serving in the Marine Corp, his parents, two sisters, infant brother and several in-laws.
