Life Legacy
Laverna Stroklund, 88, Minot, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016, at Trinity Homes, Minot.
Laverna was born November 12, 1928, in McClusky, ND to William and Ottilia (Kuebler) Schick. She attended school in Denhoff, ND. Her father died when she was 9 years old and she lived with relatives due to her mother?s poor health. They moved to Dunseith where her mother was a patient at the sanitarium. She graduated from high school in 1945 from Dunseith High School and worked at the hospital. Later they lived in Fargo, ND, where she met and married Sam Kramlich. They moved to the San Francisco Bay area in California and raised their family. She worked at Woolworth?s and Target stores until she returned to North Dakota in 2000.
In 2002, she married Harold Stroklund at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot.
Laverna was active in several service clubs including VFW Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, American Legion, and AMVETS. She spent many hours crocheting hundreds of lap robes which she and Harold delivered to area nursing homes.
Laverna is survived by: her husband of 14 years, Harold; children, Pamela (Roy) Cantu, San Ramon, CA, Linda (Paul) Willis, Skamania, WA, Mark Kramlich, El Sobrante, CA, Paul Kramlich, Albany, CA, and Debbie Kramlich, Brentwood, CA; stepsons, Bruce (Sandy) Stroklund, Minot, Alan (Joann) Stroklund, West Point, IA, Ken (June) Stroklund, Minot, Paul (Pam) Stroklund, Minot; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Louis Brodek, two brothers, Harold and Irvin, a sister, Bertha, and husbands, Samuel Kramlich, and Albert Quarton.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, December 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot.
Interment: will take place at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND, at a later date in the spring of 2017.
Visitation: Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Vigil Prayer Service: Thursday at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: are preferred to Moose charities.
