- [S8] Information from an informant - Auskunft eines Informanten - Information d'un informateur.
It is so nice to "meet" you, Ursula. I can't thank you enough for taking
on this huge project! You have given me so much information about my
father's family. It would be my absolute honor to be able to contribute
information.
I was lucky enough to have know Mary Agnes "May" Fabacher. We called her
Mommee Burke. I was about 10 when she passed away, but the thing I
remember the most about her was her wonderful sense of humor. Even after
she was bedridden, she was still telling jokes. After her first husband,
Reinhardt, died in 1918 during the Flu Epidemic, she remarried a man named
Louis Burke. They had a daughter, named Patricia, on June 24, 1930. She
just passed away on January 10, 2018. Here is her obituary
<https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/new-orleans-la/patricia-oriol-

My grandfather was her son, Louis Joseph. Everyone called him Louie. (We
called him Louie-Pop). He was born Aug 10, 1915 and died February 19, 1978
in New Orleans, La. His brother, Bernard, was born Jan 20, 1912 and died
Jun 30, 1997 in New Orleans, La. I'm not sure when Mary Grace was born,
but I'm assuming it was around 1917. I know that she died right before
Christmas 1987.
My dad is Louis Joseph Deris II. His birthday is March 27, 1945. He has
two sisters: Dorothy Lynne Deris LaGrossa (b. Dec 20, 1948) and Leisa Ann
Deris Franklin (b. July 5, 1957).
My dad has two children: Dana Lynne Deris Fatic (me) (b. May 31, 1972) and
my brother, Christopher Louis Deris (b. Jan 30, 1974).
I hope this information helps. If there is any other information you would
like, please don't hesitate to ask.
Again, thank you so much for doing this. It is wonderful to discover my
family and I really hope to one day make it to Germany to discover where
my family lived. Until I found your site, all I had was family stories (Is
it true my family were bakers?). Now I have names and dates to make them
more real. My husband's family is from Germany, too, so we are talking
about going someday soon. Luckily, he speaks German (he learned it in
school. His family has been in the US for several generations) so he can
be my tour guide :-).
Ok, I guess that I have rambled enough. I just get so excited talking
about geneology.
God bless!
Dana
