Martha "Marty" (Daschbach) Dougherty, 83, of Allendale, died on Feb. 27.
Born and raised in Winchester, Mass., she lived in Reading, Mass., before moving to Allendale with her husband George in 1965. A field hockey star in high school, she graduated from the nursing program at Saint Mary's College, Ind. and received her master's degree in nursing from Boston College. She worked as a nurse in rehabilitation medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital for 28 years, from which she retired at age 78. She was a parishioner of St. Luke's Church in Ho-Ho-Kus.
She is survived by her siblings, James, Gretchen and Tom; her children, Margaret Lorberbaum and husband Noam, James Dougherty and wife Monica, Kelly Mirque and husband Brendan, Matthew Dougherty and wife Salmah, George Dougherty Jr. and wife Michelle and Patrick Dougherty and wife Sherri; her grandchildren, Tal, Danielle, Edgar, Rhianna, Valerie, Dana, Matthew, Reagan, Brynn, Declan, Mack and Shea; and several nieces, nephews, godchildren and many friends.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on March 5 at St. Luke's RC Church in Ho-Ho-Kus. Cremation was private.
Arrangements were by the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
