Roxann Roarson Kollbaum, 45, Hornick, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 23, 2005, at home surrounded by her family.
Roxann was born July 5, 1959 at Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Jon and Beverly (Thomas) Roarson. She attended school at Westwood High School, Sloan, Iowa, where she graduated in 1977 and then attended Drake University and Iowa State University.
She married Kevin G. Kollbaum August 2, 1986 at United Methodist Church at Anthon, Iowa. The couple made their home and raised their son on a farm near Anthon until February, 2004 when they moved to an acreage near Holly Springs, Iowa.
Roxann was employed at R.G. Dickenson Brokerage Firm in Des Moines from 1978-1980 and later was a bookkeeper at Consumer Supply Distributing in Sioux City, Iowa for 18 years. She was school board secretary/treasurer for Maple Valley/Anthon Oto Community School the past six years until declining health forced her retirement.
She was a member of Skien Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School and coordinated many music programs at United Methodist Church at Anthon. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading and attending Kenton's sporting events. Her greatest passion was being a Mother.
Survivors include her husband, Kevin of Hornick; their son, Kenton J. at home; her parents, Jon and Bev Roarson of Sloan; two sisters and their husbands, Rhonda and Mike Wilt of Sloan and Rachelle and Ed Scott of Salix, Iowa; five nieces and nephews, Katie (Wilt) Scott and Jon Wilt of Sloan and Kayla, Andy and Greg Scott of Salix; her mother and father-in-law, Merlin and Colleen Kollbaum of Anthon; two sisters-in-law, Renee Piper of Green River, Wyoming and Sherrie Bodholt and her husband, Quentin of Newell, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Kenny Kollbaum and his wife, Patty and Brad Kollbaum, all of Anthon, and nieces and nephews-in-law, Ryan and Brett Baldwin of Anthon, Candice Jacobson of Correctionville, Iowa, Kyle, Joel and Kaci Bodholt of Newell, Derrick and Dalton Kollbaum of Anthon and Bethany and Alexandria Kollbaum of Moville, Iowa.
Memorial services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2005 at Skien Lutheran Church, Albaton, Iowa (rural Sloan) with Rev. Marvin Mueller officiating. Music selections were "I Could Only Imagine" and a solo, "On Eagle's Wings". Jim Doyle was soloist and Jane Heisterkamp was organist. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery at Albaton. Visitation was 5:00-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 8:00 p.m., all at the church. Arrangements were under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Bearers were her sisters, Rachelle Scott and Rhonda Wilt.
