GOERING William Albert Goering, of Colorado Springs passed away on June 8, 2005. Bill was born July 16, 1932 in LaPorte, IN to William Augustus Goering and Elise Louise Hauck. He graduated from Yale University in 1954 with a Master of Engineering degree. Bill was recognized for his outstanding accomplishment in this field by ASM International as a Fellow. Recruited by Ford Motor Company in 1956, Bill enjoyed a career spanning 35 years retiring as the Manager of the Michigan Proving Grounds. As a freshman student at Yale, Bill learned to fence. It was the beginning of a lifelong passion with a challenging sport. His infatuation led him to compete or officiate in tournaments across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia and South America for more than 50 years. He married Monica Reimann August 11 in Farmington, MI. He is survived by his wife Monica of 42 years, daughter Leslie Goering of Parker,CO; brother Robert (Ruth) Goering of Cincinnati, OH; sisters Elise (Ken) Bick of LexingtonVA and Ruth (Craig) Ferguson of Burlington, WI and a host of extended family and friends throughout the U.S. A Celebration of Life will be held in Cincinnati, OH October 15th.
