Bio: Graveside services, with full military honors, for Arlington Faul, 84, of Clovis, will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens. Arlington Faul, a retired USAF Chief Master Sergeant and retired automobile salesman, died Friday, July 1, 2016, at his home.He was born October 18, 1931, in Lincoln Valley, North Dakota to Adolph and Ester Reiswig Faul. Arl received his elementary and high school education at Harvey, North Dakota where he played basketball and earned letters in track and football. He graduated in 1950. Arlington married Louise Mary Hoffman of Spokane, Washington at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, October 1, 1954.Chief Faul began his long military career by enlisting in the North Dakota National Guard in 1948 as a SFC tank Commander. He was discharged on September 11, 1950 to enlist in the United States Air Force, with basic training at Lackland AFB, TX. After his first assignment at Rapid City AFB, South Dakota, he was transferred overseas to French Morocco, Africa, where he served as a munitions maintenance technician. Chief Faul had stateside assignments to include: Fairchild AFB, WA, Mountain Home AFB, ID, 12th AF HQ, Waco, TX, Nellis AFB, NV and 3 assignments to Cannon AFB, NM. His overseas assignments included Africa, Korea, England, Philippines, Okinawa, Vietnam and Thailand. All of Chief Faul's service was in the munitions career field as a Munitions Maintenance Superintendent. His most significant military medals included; 2 Bronze Stars, Meritorious Service Medal, 5 Air Force Commendation Medals, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Campaign Stars and Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm. Chief Faul retired in 1976 at Cannon AFB and began a new career in Auto Sales. He enjoyed all types of vehicles and the many fine people he met in and around the Clovis area.He was preceded by his parents, Adolph and Ester Faul.Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Louise Faul; a son, Michael Faul of Clovis; a brother, Gary (Cynthia) Faul of Tacoma, WA; a sister, Sharon (Don) Hilfer of Las Vegas, NV; one grandson, Josh (Tiffany) Faul of Clovis; two great grandchildren, McKinlee and Caitlinn Faul and numerous nieces and nephews.Arlington had a long battle with cancer and had many treatments at the PRMC Cancer Center where he worked hard toward recovery. He stayed active and enjoyed life and his family, who stayed by his side.
