Callenius Passes Away at LeMarsGeorge H. Callenius, age 72, passed away at the Sacred Hart hospital in LeMars, last Thursday afternoon, Sept. 28th, following and illness with pneumonia and heart trouble, being sick but two days.Mr. Callenius was a pioneer of the Granville community, having resided for many years in Baker township.He was born July 30, 1861, in New York City. He spent his boyhood days at Mendota and LaMoille, Ill. He came west in 1883 and on March 24th, settled on the home place in Baker twonship.Mr. Callenius was united in marriage with Miss Theresa List on February 1, 1896. In 1910 he moved to Alton where he managed the Farmers Cooperative Elevator for nine years. Since that time he has lived on the farm.He is survived by his widow and one son, George W. Mr. Callenius was very well known in the Granville and Alton communities wheere he lived for fifty years.
