PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF SERVICE DATE
Marie Hoff, age 92, of Lemmon, SD, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Close to Home Hospice House in Gillette, WY.
A rosary service for Marie will be held at 10:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. all on THURSDAY, MARCH 8, 2018 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lemmon, SD. Fr. Tony Grossenburg will officiate with burial to follow in the Greenhill Cemetery at Lemmon.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon, SD.
Marie Schell was born on February 11, 1926, to John and Rosa (Volk) Schell on the family farm near Meadow, SD. She attended grade school in Meadow and and High School in Lemmon, SD. Following her schooling, she worked for Lemmon Auto as a bookkeeper, a job she held for over 35 years. She later helped out the Independent Oil Company in Lemmon when needed.
Marie was united in marriage to Valentine Hoff on May 15, 1946, in Miles City, MT. They made their home in Lemmon, where Marie enjoyed gardening, quilting, playing cards, bowling, playing BINGO and fishing with Valentine. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Altar Society.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Close to Home Hospice House 1901 Energy Court Suite 265, Gillette, WY 82718 in memory of Marie.
Marie is survived by one son, Jim Hoff; step-daughters, Eileen Engraf and Rea Alexander; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Valentine; step-son, Edward; three brothers, Jim, Jonas, Romolius; sisters, Margaret Schiley, Mina Marciniak, Barbara Johnson, Angela Schiley, Elizabeth Herzog; one grandson and two step-grandchildren.
