Bio: Alyce Marie Hoff passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2014. Alyce was born in Jay, Fla., Oct. 12, 1929, the fifth daughter of Alfred Dawson and Ruby Belle Brown. She grew up in a loving, close-knit community of family, including 27 first cousins and friends from the Community of Christ Church and benefited from both the rewards and hardships of farm life.Graduating from Jay High School in 1947 as the top math student, Alyce built on her innate math skills and completed accounting school in Pensacola, Fla., before moving to Fort Walton Beach in 1949. Here she was employed as a financial accountant and married Clyde Maricle, a member of the U.S. Air Force. Alyce continued her accounting work as the family was stationed at numerous bases worldwide, bearing three sons and becoming a consummate gardener and cook. Clyde passed away in 1973.Alyce (Pat to her co-workers and grandkids) met and married Gerald Hoff while working at Eglin Air Force Base in September 1978. Jerry brought joy back to Alyce's life. Together for 36 wonderful years, they were constant and inseparable companions as they worked happily together, fished, gardened and traveled across the country to see family and friends. One of their successful family endeavors was "Alyce's Floral Design" which they owned for many years here in Fort Walton Beach. Alyce was a true southern lady who was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.Alyce was preceded in death by her parents and sisters. Survivors include her husband Gerald D. Hoff, Chief Master Sergeant, USAF Retired; sons, Wayne (Barbara) Maricle, Rick Maricle and Russell Maricle; three step-children, Kim and Michael Hoff, and Victoria Sweda; three grandchildren, Becca (Casey) Dawley, Mark Maricle, and Rachel Kincaid; two great-grandchildren, Bailey Kincaid and Elin Alyce Dawley; and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral services, with Elder Jim Marcombe of the Community of Christ Church presiding, will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road NE, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., with internment immediately after the service at Beal Memorial Cemetery.Family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and nurses of Emerald Coast Hospice and Fort Walton Beach Rehabilitation for their kind and attentive care of Alyce.Expressions of love and sympathy may be viewed online at www.emeraldcoastfuneralhome.com.Published in Northwest Florida Daily News on Apr. 14, 2014
