Bio: Laurice E. Flockerzi, 96, of 416 Flockerzi Road, Oil City, died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, in Naples, FL. Born Sept. 3, 1906, in Venus, she was the daughter of Edwin and Haddie Reese Owens.Mrs. Flockerzi was a member of the Heckathorn United Methodist Church where she was active in the Adult Sunday School and the United Methodist Women, was a member of Pinegrove Homemakers and Fertigs Senior Citizens group, enjoyed quilting, flower gardening and visiting with family and friends. Until her mid 80s she swam at the YMCA and mall walked into her 90s. Before her marriage, she worked as a telephone operator at the Venus Telephone Co.Mrs. Flockerzi was married Nov. 24, 1926, to Merle L. Flockerzi, who preceded her in death June 25, 2002. Surviving are seven children, Shirley Motter of Oil City, Lois Renz and husband, Carl, of Elma, NY, Rhea Davis and husband, Arthur, of Saint John, IN, Marian Krause and husband, Milton, of Camp Hill, Gary Flockerzi and wife, Audrey, of Trout Creek, MT, Ralph Flockerzi and wife, Mary Ann, of Missoula, MT, and Dale Flockerzi and wife, Marsha, of Oil City; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Flockerzi was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Flockerzi; a granddaughter, Sherri Flockerzi; four sisters, Ivy Dreihaup, Delia Stover, Bessie Owens and Margaret Owens; and five brothers, Rush Owens, John Owens, Parks Owens, Boyd Owens and Maurice Owens.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Heckathorn United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Sweet, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Heckathorn Cemetery.
