HEBRON — Arnold Staiger, 84, Hebron, passed away on July 6, 2010, with his family by his side at the Richardton Health Care Center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. CDT today, July 10, at First Baptist Church, Hebron. Burial will be in Congregational Cemetery, Hebron.
Arnold Staiger was born June 27, 1926, to Henry and Bertha (Trautman) Staiger on the family farm in rural Grant County. He grew up on the farm and attended country school. Arnold continued to work on the farm with his father until he took the farm over in 1946. On Dec. 26, 1947, he married the love of his life, Violet Karch, at the Bethany Congregational Church south of Hebron. After marriage, the couple made their home on the farm. To this union, three children were born, Clyde, Cheryl and Kevin. The couple continued to make their home on the farm until January 2010, when Arnold became a resident at the Richardton Health Care Center, where he resided until his passing.
Arnold enjoyed listening to old-time music and dancing. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family members. Arnold’s hobby was his job. He loved being on the farm. His favorite times were those spent with his loving grandchildren. Arnold was a member of the First Congregational Church in Hebron, where he served as Deacon for many years.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 62 years, Violet, Hebron; children, Clyde (Jacqueline) Staiger, Hebron, Cheryl (Kent) Hoerauf, Hettinger, and Kevin (Antoinette) Staiger, Hebron; grandchildren, Shiann Staiger, Cody (Amber) Staiger, Sarah (Todd) Patterson, Andrew (Lori) Hoerauf, Kristopher (KaSondra) Staiger, Joshua (Lindsay) Staiger and Bradley (Abby) Staiger; a great-grandchild, Ava Violet Staiger; sisters, Alma (Ervin) Specht, Bismarck, and Ella Schroeder, Bismarck; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Irene Maas; two infant brothers; and an infant sister.
