Eugene Gene Gratz

Eugene 'Gene/Geno' Gratz 78 of Apple Valley passed away February 13, 2015 at the Minneapolis Veterans Home where he had been a resident for the past three years.
Gene was born May 06, 1936 in Mandan, North Dakota to Adam and Wilhelmina 'Kautzman' Gratz. Gene attended St. Joseph grade school and graduated from Mandan High School in 1955. Gene then served in the US Army from 1956-1958. Gene married Donna 'Dilger' in 1961. Gene was employed over 20 years with Twin City Federal Savings and Loan where he served as branch manager, loan officer and Assistant Vice President. During these years he was an active member and officer of the Burnsville Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, and Toastmasters clubs. Gene also served as an officer with the Rosemount National Bank and was employed by the Minnesota Revenue Department. Gene was a third degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the American Legion. Gene's hobbies included bowling, golf, a was big fan of the Chicago Bears, White Sox, LA Lakers and all Notre Dame teams. Gene is survived by his Wife: Donna; Sons: David and wife Anne of Prior Lake, Minnesota; Daniel of East Bethel, Minnesota; Daughters: Pamela and husband Bruce Stephan of Waconia, Minnesota; Dana and husband Chris Rogers of Savage, Minnesota; Grandchildren: Chad, Jessica and husband Colin, Adam, Jack, Rachel, Allison, Lauryn and Carson; sisters: Lorraine and husband Dennis Glaser of Mandan, North Dakota and Peggy and husband Russell Gustin of Fairfax, Virginia; Sister-in-law Angie Gratz; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents Adam and Wilhelmina 'Kautzman' Gratz brothers: Harry and Joseph; infant sister Mary; infant brother Adam; and granddaughter Taylor.
Memorial service will be held on Friday February 27, 2015 at the Minneapolis Veterans Home in Apple Valley at the Hope Chapel.
Visitation will be at 9:30AM with the service immediately following at 10:00AM.
Final burial of the cremated remains will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, North Dakota at a later date.
