She graduated from St. Augustine High School in Austin in 1938 and was married to Wilfred N. Bissen on May 24, 1944 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. They made their home, farming in the Adams and Rose Creek area where she was a homemaker and hard-working farm wife.Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the CCW. She liked to visit, travel and play cards and also enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She was an excellent cook and good provider.Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred; daughter, Dorothy Nolte and two brothers.Mary is survived by her three daughters, Virginia M. Bissen, Rose Creek, Susan Bissen, Rochester, Minn., Patricia Bissen, Rochester; three sons, Joseph Bissen, Rochester, Thomas Bissen, Minneapolis, Minn., Michael Bissen, Rose Creek; son-in-law, Roger Nolte, Waucoma, Iowa; sister, Margaret Overlie, Minneapolis; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father James Seitz officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Adams. Visitation will be at The Adams Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service and at the Adams Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The organist will be Helen King, with Soloist will be Delphin Mueller. The casket Bearers will be Ron Plath, Larry Tompkins, Steve Pitzen, Larry Schuttler, Peter Grover and Robert Smith. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
