Scherer Birth: 6 Sep 1892 Richland County, Illinois, USA Death: 27 Feb 1955 Olney, Richland County, Illinois, USA Burial: Saron Cemetery, Dundas, Richland County, Illinois, USA Memorial #: 97234481 Bio: Arthur Scherer, 82, prominent farm resident of Route 4, Olney, passed away suddenly at Richland Memorial Hospital on Sunday morning. He had been admitted to the hospital on Saturday. Mr. Scherer had been a lifelong resident of the county and was the son of George Scherer and Barbara Von Almen. He had operated his farm for many years and was one of the county's best known men. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and served as one of its councilmen. He leaves his wife, Etta, five children: Mrs. Margaret L. Feister of Evansville, Ind., Eugene E. Scherer of Rochell, Mrs. Bernice Crum of Olney, Ray Newell and Christian M. Scherer both living at home. There are five grandchildren. He also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Martha Cowman, Mrs. Rosa Anderson, Joel G. Scherer and Alfred Scherer, all of Olney. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the St. James Church with Rev. Walter Freitag officiating. Interment in the Saron cemetery. The body remained in the Summers-Wilson Funeral Home until the hour of service. The family of Mr. Scherer respectfully asks that flowers please be omitted and friends desiring, may send memorials to the building fund of St. James church, which was of keen interest to him.
