Louis Albert, 92, of Mentor, Ohio, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Tripoint Medical Center, Concord. He was born May 6, 1925, in Erie, Pa., to the late Louis and Ida Albert.
Louis worked as a train dispatcher for New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail, retiring in 1987 after 40 years of service. Mr. Albert was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific during WWII and was also a member of the local VFW chapter.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Mary Albert (Watson); sons, David (Diane), Daniel (Mary Lou), Darryl (Marybeth), Dana (Lynda) and Damian "DJ" (Linda) Albert; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Bednar; and many other loving family members.
Preceding him in death were his brother, Paul (June) Albert; brother-in-law, Michael Bednar; and granddaughter, Amanda Albert.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Saint Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor; please meet at the church. The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, Ohio 44060. Burial will take place in Mentor Cemetery.
