Bio: PARDEEVILLE - Clayton L. Broesch, 85, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at his home.Clayton was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Portage, the son of Jacob and Caroline Krinke Broesch. He served his country during World War II as private first class, Company B312th Engineer Battalion Army. He received the American Theater Ribbon; EAME Ribbon with two battle stars; and World War II Victory Medal Purple Heart.On June 9, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mildred Smith at St. John's Parsonage in Portage.Clayton worked for Badger Ordnance in Baraboo as a painter, and later for the railroad. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion. He and his wife have resided in Pardeeville for 49 years.He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mildred; four children, Terry (Shirley) Broesch of Portage, Gloria (Jim) Adams of Sandwich, Ill., Clayton Jr. (Debbie) of Rio, and Robert McMahon (Jenny) of Beaver Dam; 16 grandchildren, Kelly Brown of Cambria, Terry Broesch of Cambria, Randy (Wendy) Broesch of Cambria, Lori (Jeremy) Chill of Grantsburg, Jerad (Rachel) Barker of Bolingbrook, Ill., Tamie Barker of Sandwich, Ill., Angela (Kyle) Ryan of Buffalo Creek, Colo., Ervin (Jen) Briggs of Montgomery, Ill., Jessica (Daniel) Lazar of Katy, Texas, Clayton III of Oxford, Loni (Jen) Broesch of Madison, Timothy McMahon of Montello, Tom McMahon of Beaver Dam, Terry McMahon (Tammy) of Monroe, Mich., Carl McMahon of Pardeeville, and Kevin McMahon of Wisconsin Dells; two stepgrandchildren, Jim (Sharon) Adams of Joliet, Ill., and Kelly Adams of Montgomery, Ill.; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Verona Gray of Portage; brother, John (Dolly) Broesch of Portage; sister-in-law, Joyce Broesch; many nieces and nephews; other near relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David McMahon; stepson, William Smith; grandson, Brian Broesch; sister, Agnes Broesch; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Roger and Linda, Donald and Lucy, Eugene and Marie and William; and two brothers-in-law, Rusty Carlin and Harvey Gray.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home in Pardeeville. Pastor Dick Inglett will officiate. Burial will follow in Pacific Cemetery. Full military rites will be presented by Pardeeville American Legion Post No. 215 and the Pardeeville VFW. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at Smith Funeral Home in Pardeeville.A special thank you to Ronald Broesch for all his help over the years.
