Aug. 6, 2006 at Hughes Health and Rehabilitation Center in West Hartford, Conn., after a short illness.Born in Decorah Feb. 11, 1912, Ethel graduated from Decorah High School in 1929 where she was active in all sports and loved to dance. After teaching in a one-room school for a time, she was employed by the Bell Telephone Company for many years.She was chief operator in Webster City, shepherding that office's move to the dial system in the late 1950's. She hired and supervised "her girls" with a firm and kind hand.Ethel was predeceased by husband, John J. Hoff; a sister, Nora; and brothers, Robert and Lester.
