She graduated from high school in LaMoure, ND in 1952. She married Alvin Baumgartner on November 10, 1953 in LaMoure. They moved to Wahpeton, ND in 1954 and to Fargo in 1959. She was a long-time member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo and was involved in many church activities, from bazaar chairman to funeral coordinator. Kathryn was President of the Catholic War Veterans Ladies' Auxiliary and was named their Woman of the Year in 1975. She was also a Den Leader and coach for the Cub Scouts and was active with the VFW Ladies' Auxiliary and the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers. She was school PTA President, involved in Catholic Daughters of America and Gold Star Mothers. Kathryn was also a foster parent of 39 children and taught religious education for 20 years. She was the first to volunteer and the last to leave after the work was done.She was preceded in death by her parents.Kathryn is survived by her husband, Alvin of Fargo; children, Greg (Jenny) of Vail, AZ, Sheila of Fargo, Pat of West Fargo, Mike of West Fargo, Michelle (Tim) Ringdahl of Mapleton, ND, Annette of Surprise, AZ; grandchildren, Michael, Monty, Alex, Nick, Ryan, Gabi, Miki, Sarah; siblings, Karl (Faye) Lacher of Roseville, MN, Pius (Sue) Lacher of Gilbert, AZ, Jim (Joy) Lacher of Camarillo, CA, Donald (Darnelle) Lacher of Loveland, OH, Connie Lacher of St. Joseph, MN, Phil (Deb) Lacher of Champlin, MN and many nieces and nephews.Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association or Hospice of the Red River Valley.Visitation: Sunday, September 24 from 2-5 pm at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo and also one hour prior to Mass in the church on Monday.Prayer Service: Sunday, September 24 at 5:00 pm at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.Funeral Mass: Monday, September 25 at 10:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo.
