Bio: William Anton FeistBill was called home by our Lord and Savior on July 18, 2011. Born May 19, 1932 to Henry and Katherine (Wangler) Feist, he was one of four children. The family moved to Yakima, Washington in 1945. He attended Saint Joseph's grade school and Marquette Catholic high school in Yakima. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, on Guam and aboard the USS Seminole.Bill married his sweetheart Margaret Bryant in 1955 and together they raised six children. The family enjoyed their vacation trailer at Ocean Park, camping and traveling to visit their relatives. Bill and Margaret enjoyed square dancing, round dancing and travel. Bill especially enjoyed the fellowship with the Men's Group at Saint Michael Parish.Bill was a Certified Public Purchasing Officer for the State of Washington. He retired from Department of Social and Health Services in Olympia in 1987 as Chief of Staff Services. He enjoyed serving as a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Michael Catholic Church, volunteering over 20 years at Providence Saint Peter Hospital Spiritual Care, serving Holy Communion to the sick and homebound. Bill was also active on the Tumwater Planning Commission, Saint Placid Boosters, serving meals at the Salvation Army and in his early years as a volunteer firefighter.Survivors include his wife Margaret and their children Katherine (Pat) Ely, Nancy (Jim) Massaia, Teresa (Bob) Covington, Tim (Laurie) Feist, Ken Feist, all from the Olympia area and Bill (Jeannette) Feist from Cathedral City, California. There are also 10 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and Bill's sisters Alma DeLong of Port Orchard, Washington and Mary Snell of Punta Gorda, Florida. Bill has been a spiritual inspiration to many.Memorial Mass will be held Saturday August 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Michael Catholic Church, 11th and Boundary, Olympia, Washington. Interment at Mills & Mills. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Vincent de Paul Society or Thurston County Food Bank.Published in The Olympian on August 2, 2011
