Wilma Agnes (Weidenbach) Hauck was born April 10, 1932 southeast of Scotland on the family farm to Rueben and Lillian (Stern) Weidenbach. She was the oldest of two children. She attended Plugraph country school until the 8th grade. She graduated from Scotland High School in 1950. From that time on she helped on the family farm and worked many other jobs cleaning and caring for neighborhood households.
She met Ray Hauck and after a 5 year courtship they were married March 28, 1956 at Scotland. They resided west of Tyndall on the Hauck farmstead. A son John was born the spring of 1958. In the spring of 1963 they moved northwest of Tyndall on the Rudy Hauck farm that they would later purchase and call their home. Wilma and Ray were a team and worked side by side their whole farming life. They milked cows, raised hogs, cattle, chickens, ducks along with tillable acres. Wilma loved farming just as much as Ray. If she had a choice of staying inside tending to the house chores or outside on a tractor, the tractor is where she was. She loved working up the fields in the spring and fall and in the summer she enjoyed raking hay. Farming was her life and you knew it just by talking to her. She took pride in what she did. She raised many chickens and ducks for many years for friends and family. She was known for her famous homemade bread, kuchen and homemade pickles by many and was a wonderful cook. She also had a knack for a gardening and would plant a big garden every year. She would also can a fruit room full of assorted produce. Everywhere she went her faithful schnauzer companion Susie was by her side whether it was out in the garden or taking out lunches she went with Wilma. Winter time you would find her working on a puzzle or embroidering listening to the Neighbor Lady. Later on in life she enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins play and was a avid fan whether they were winning or losing.
Wilma was member of the Friedens Reformed Church where she was on the Women?s Guild and also taught Sunday school for a number of years. Wilma and Ray resided on their farm until June 2014 when they moved to Springfield Assisted Living. Wilma later moved to Tyndall Good Samaritan Center December 1, 2017 due to her failing health. Wilma passed away peacefully August 8, 2018 in Tyndall at the age of 86 years old.
Wilma is survived by her son John (Barb) Hauck of Tyndall, two grandchildren Katie (Anthony) Zimmerman of Scotland, Matthew (Katie) Hauck of Tyndall, 2 great grandchildren Emy Jewell and Olivia Hauck of Tyndall, and faithful companion Susie. One brother in law Jonas (Carol) Hauck of Tyndall, and sister in-laws Maureen Vellek of Menno and Esther Weidenbach of Scotland.
Wilma is welcomed into heaven by her husband Ray, parents Rueben and Lillian Weidenbach, step mom, Mary Weidenbach, parents in law Samuel and Emelia Hauck, 1 brother Eldon Weidenbach, brother in laws Robert Hauck and Ray Klasi, sister in laws Albina Klasi and Marlene Hauck.
