Bio: Dolores E. Barta, 84, Bismarck, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2017, in the presence of her loving husband, at the family home. We are honored to tell you about our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and loving Wife, Dolores Eva (Kuntz) Barta. She was born on Mother’s Day, May 14, 1933, to Roman and Rose (Binstock) Kuntz, in Dickinson, ND. She was the typical youngster, helping her mother with daily chores, and loyal to her older brothers. She wanted to be part of their South Side gang, friends who became loyal to each other over the years. She attended St. Joseph’s Grade School and graduated from Dickinson High School in 1951. She attended Dickinson State College for one year and became a teacher in a rural school north of South Heart, ND. She did this for one year, and then married her high school sweetheart, Ervin J. Barta, on October 20, 1953. They settled on the south side of Dickinson where she then worked as a bookkeeper for Cloverdale Creamery and as a sales representative for Dickinson Beverage Co. (Hamm’s beer). After their move to Bismarck, she worked for St. Alexius Hospital as a pharmacy tech for many years. Erv and Dolores welcomed five children, under her warm and welcoming wings, Baby Eve, Michele, Mitchell, Dean and Jeffrey.Dolores enjoyed staying home and taking care of the family. She was a knitter and was so pleased to teach her daughter and granddaughters the skill of knitting; she loved to bowl and joined her bowling friends in winning a State Championship in the women’s team event. She also enjoyed stamping, gardening, and growing beautiful flowers. She was involved in her church, Corpus Christi with the women’s guild in doing many worthy projects. If you were a friend of hers or a member of the family, she never forgot your birthday, maybe at times a little early or late, but she never forgot to send you a card for best wishes, this will be missed by all.Erv and Dolores moved to Bismarck in 1964 and lived on Assumption Drive for 43 years; Dolores had many wonderful memories of great friends she made both in Dickinson and Bismarck. She spent summers at their cabin at Brush Lake. Erv and Dolores spent the winters in Arizona for 18 years, until her health declined. She loved Arizona and the friends she met there. She was known as the ViewPoint Sunshine Lady.Dolores faced many challenges the past four years with declining health due to a fall that affected her health and well-being. She was comforted by many caregivers, so we celebrate her life with you and look forward to the day when we meet again.Dolores is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Ervin; her children, Michele (Mike) Towle, Bismarck, Mitchell (Becky), Bismarck, Dean (Jill), Excelsior, MN, and Jeffrey, Mandan. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Joseph (Mandi) Towle, St. Paul, MN, Jessica (Dan) Smith, Bismarck, Annie Barta, Excelsior, MN, Elle Barta, Helena, MT, Calli Barta, Excelsior, MN, Max Barta, Brookings, SD, Sage Barta, Moorhead, MN, Blake Barta, Excelsior, MN, David Barta, Excelsior, MN; three great-grandchildren, Elijah and Helena Towle, St. Paul, MN, and Kendall Smith, Bismarck; three brothers, Anton Kuntz, Freemont, NE, Richard Kuntz, Boise, ID, and Jim Kuntz, Bismarck; one sister, Mary Ann Seiler, Dickinson.Dolores was preceded in death by her daughter, Baby Eve; her parents, Roman and Rose Kuntz; and her sister, Pauline Splichal.Eastgate-Parkway Funeral Home
