emorial service for Susan Seaton, 54, Aberdeen, is 10:00am, Monday, April 15, 2013, at Faith United Methodist Church, 503 S. Jay St., Aberdeen, Pastor Jack Erickson officiating. Susan died Wednesday, April 10, at her home.
Visitation: 2-6 pm, Sunday with a prayer service at 6:00 at the Church.
Susan Gail Schnabel Seaton was born in Aberdeen on April 8, 1959, to LaVina and Hugo Schnabel. As a teenager she was a National Merit Scholar Semi-finalist and participated in the Sounds of Celebration Choir.
She graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1977, and then attended Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. She studied for a year in Maine, and graduated from Dordt in 1981 with a degree in history. After college she met her husband, Jim. They were married on October 4, 1986, and moved to the Seaton family farm south of Aberdeen. Their daughter, Isabella, was born in 1993, and their son, Isaac, was born in 1998.
She was a devoted mother who enjoyed attending her children's activities, including plays and concerts, and she especially enjoyed theater festivals. Susan loved the Aberdeen Community Theater and Storybook Land Theater. She liked walking and traveling, and had the opportunity to travel to Japan with ACT for their production of "Honk". Susan was an avid library patron, as she loved to read murder mysteries. She was one of the great rock and roll fans, and loved listening to music and seeing bands play with her sisters and brother, all of whom she was very close to. Susan's family was very important to her, and she enjoyed visiting close and extended family members. She worked for Avera St. Luke's for more than thirty years alongside wonderful coworkers and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and several aunts and uncles, and leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly. Surviving Susan are her husband of twenty-six years, Jim; daughter, Isabella; son, Isaac; siblings, Linda, Sharon, and Lori Schnabel, Aberdeen, Peggy (Scott) Beier, Sioux Falls, Bonnie Schnabel, Yankton, Dale Schnabel, Yankton; and niece, Ann (Brian) Mack, Sioux Falls.
