Obituary Condolences
Donald J. Rosanske Donald J. Rosanske, age 79, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Erie, Pa., left this life for the peace and comfort of our Lord, Sunday, July 29, 2007, at 8:00 p.m., Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia. Don was born to Paul H. Rosansky and Ethel Baumann Rosansky on July 7, 1928 in Erie, Pa. Don served in the U.S. Army infantry division from 1950-1952 and was a member of American Legion post #0110. He was a member of St. Maximilian-Kolbe Church in Port Charlotte, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: Paul A. Rosanske and Robert R. Rosanske, and sisters: Martha L. Simmons and Helene R. Tolette. By his side, was his high school sweetheart of 62 years and wife of 56 years, Marylou Wagner Rosanske, and five loving daughters, His Pride and Joy: Sandra Roberts and her husband Thomas of Erie, Cynthia Patton and her husband Ronald of Chatham, Ill., Patricia Little and her husband Charles of Suwanee, Ga., Laurie Schimmell and her husband David of Reston, Va. and Lisa Montgomery and her husband Leland of Erie, Pa. Don’s mostly female legacy continues with: 12 granddaughters, five grandsons, seven great granddaughters, and four great grandsons, as well as one sister, Ruth Jeanne Sackett and her husband Robert of Erie, Pa; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He graduated from Strong Vincent High School and attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was in Sales most of his life, and was a past member of the East Erie Turners. Don’s first passion in life was his daughters, whom he loved to brag, rivaled any sons. His second passion was singing and acting. Don was an accomplished performer and vocalist, participating in various plays and musicals throughout his life. In recent years, he was active in Cul-Cen Productions of Port Charlotte and Yogi Productions of Slippery Rock, Pa., as well as Heritage Oaks Park Choir. Don enjoyed playing cards, especially Hand and Foot, camping and traveling. Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Road on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Joseph Book officiating.
