Rosa Maria Redig Ritger, 99 ½, of Aurora Road, Town of Addison, died Sunday morning, May 28, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in West Bend.
Born in the Town of Addison on Nov. 6, 1917, Rose was the daughter of Phillip and Elizabeth Speeter Redig and lived her entire life in two homes on Aurora Road. Rose married Leo August Ritger on November 21, 1945 and farmed with him on the Redig homestead. She was active for many years with her husband in the Wisconsin Farmer’s Union. Rose lived a simple life, focused on family, healthy food and lifestyle, maintaining a garden until her death.
Rose was a member of St. Lawrence Parish for her entire life and was a member of the Christian Women’s Society, serving for many years in funeral hospitality work.
Survivors include her two sons, Edward (Stephenie) of Random Lake, and Francis (Patsy) of the Town of Addison; five grandchildren, Daniel, Andrew (Rebecca), Melissa Green (special friend Marc Reichert), Kate, and Emily (Mike Tutaj); thirteen great-grandchildren, Kory, Phillip, Alyson, Madalynn, Aramie, Anna, and Elizabeth Ritger, Gabrielle, Gideon, Silas, and Titus Green, and Cora and Penelope Ritger; one great-great-grandchild, Owen Zetley. Also surviving are two sister-in-laws, Florence Ritger and Sister Lorraine Marie Ritger, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Leo on April 15, 2004, two sons, Joseph and Robert; one great-grandson, Samuel; two brothers, Reverend Andrew Redig and Edward Redig.
Funeral services for Rose Ritger will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Saturday, June 3. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 am at the church with Mass celebrated by Father Davies Edassery at 11:00, to be followed by a time of remembrance and celebration of Rose’s life with family and friends in the church fellowship hall until 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Lawrence Church improvement fund, Catholic Relief Services, St. Lawrence Seminary or a charity of the donor’s choice
Rose’s family would like to thank Dr. Klausmeier and the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital for the special care they gave Rose over the last three years.
