Viola Helen (Ulmer) Weishaar was born to Gustav & Elenora (Walter) Ulmer on Nov. 3, 1921 on a farm 3 miles southeast of Hosmer. She attended rural school in that area and graduated from Hosmer High School in 1940. She taught rural elementary school for 2 years. On Dec. 27, 1942 Viola married Reinhold Weishaar at St. John’s Lutheran church in Hosmer. They lived on the Weishaar homestead 6 miles northeast of Hosmer. In November 1973 they retired from farming and moved into Hosmer. Viola was employed at the Hosmer School for 12 years. She later enjoyed baby-sitting for family and friends. Reinhold passed away June 8, 1984 and Viola continued to make Hosmer her home. Viola enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, gardening, dancing and listening to ‘old time’ music. She especially loved to read and play cards with family and friends. Viola became a resident of the Hosmer Senior Citizens Home in Jan. 2007. She spent many hours embroidering dish towels and took great pride in sharing these gifts with family, friends and the entire staff at the Senior Citizens Home. Viola was a life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran church, served as an officer of the church WELCA group, altar guild, Senior Citizens Home Auxiliary, Hosmer Senior Center and the monthly Birthday Club.
