Obituary
Kenneth Clayton Orth was born February 27, 1946, at Artas, SD, to Art and Ella (Berreth) Orth. He graduated from Herried High School and Black Hills State College in Spearfish. He was a teacher and coach in Julesburg, CO, and in Philip, Gregory and Todd County, SD. He was an assistant football coach, head basketball, track and golf coach and refereed 1840 basketball games including the SD State Basketball Tournament and the Lakota Nation Invitational. He was a teacher, coach and referee for 41 years until his retirement in 2008. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell, the Moose Lodge and was an avid golfer and Yankee fan.
He is survived by two children from his marriage, Shayne Orth and wife, Stephanie of Spearfish, Shannon Alcorn and husband, Ryan of Rapid City, four grandchildren: Dillon and Jordan Orth and Kiauna and Kylee Alcorn, his special friend, Judy Titze of Mitchell, two brothers: Lester Orth of Sioux Falls and Gary Orth of Rapid City, and one sister, Vicki Mitzel and husband, Don of Aberdeen.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
