Eleanor 'Rusty' Swanson 1925 - 2005
ELSMORE - Eleanor S. "Rusty" Swanson, 79, Elsmore, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at her home.
She was born Dec. 25, 1925, at rural Elsmore, the daughter of Harold and Ida Townsend Butts.
She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1943, then worked at Montgomery Ward in Chanute. She also catered wedding and anniversary receptions and was known as "The Cake Lady" in Elsmore.
She was a member of Friends Home Lutheran Church, Savonburg.
On June 26, 1946, she married J. Edward Swanson in rural Elsmore, where the couple managed and operated a farm. He survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Jerry L. Swanson, Elsmore, Bradley J. Swanson, Winfield, and Keith A. Swanson, Olathe; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Elvin "Jiggs" Butts, a brother, Harold "Bud" Butts, and a sister, Helen Taylor.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 25, at Friends Home Lutheran Church, Savonburg, led by Pastor Kathy Sanley. Burial will be in Swedish Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 - 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home, where memorials to the church or Horizon Hospice may be left.
Penwell-Gabel Moran Chapel, Moran, is in charge of arrangements.
