Birth: Mar. 12, 1930 Elgin Grant County North Dakota, USA Death: Feb. 11, 2015 Bismarck Burleigh County North Dakota, USA Rose Meuchel, 84, Dickinson, formerly from Glen Ullin, our beloved Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Great-Great Grandma and friend, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Monday, February 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin, ND, with Rev. Jeffrey Zwack officiating. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Glen Ullin. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm Sunday, February 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where a vigil/rosary service will begin at 4:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. She was born Rose Violet Hochhalter on March 12, 1930, in Elgin, North Dakota, to Ferdinand and Johanna (Liedtke) Hochhalter. Following Johanna's passing in 1930, Rose spent the first two years of her new life with her Aunt Rose and Uncle Philip Liedtke and then joined her family in 1932 at the Hochhalter homestead in New Leipzig. After high school she moved to Bismarck and while in beauty school met Philip Meuchel. They married on April 6, 1948, and moved to Glen Ullin. They farmed south of Glen Ullin and spent the final years of life in Dickinson. Together they had seven children, six boys and one girl. Among the many joys Rose brought to others lives, she enjoyed volunteering at the House of Manna and the Sunset Senior Center in Dickinson. She sang with the Happy Sing Along Group and was a member of the Ladies Auxillary VFW. She had a love for singing, doll making, crocheting and quilting.
