Philip Meuchel, 74, Dickinson, died July 6, 1999, in Dickinson. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Friday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with the Rev. Claude Seeberger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 5 p.m. MDT today at the church and is ongoing until service time. A wake service and rosary will be said at 7 p.m. MDT tonight at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin.
Philip was born on April 6, 1925 in rural Glen Ullin, the son of Lucas and Angelina (Kary) Meuchel. He was raised and educated in rural Glen Ullin. He worked on the family farm and for other neighbors. In 1946, he went to Hettinger to work at the Red Owl store and was transferred to the Bismarck store in 1947, later that year, he bought a truck and went into the hauling business. He married Rose Hochhalter on April 6, 1948 at Glen Ullin. In 1953, they moved to rural Glen Ullin and began farming. Philip did excavating and plumbing work for several years and in the early 60's resumed farming and ranching. He retired in 1984 and moved to Dickinson where he has resided since.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; six sons and daughters-in-law, David and Debbie, Dickinson, Dale and Patricia, Dickinson, Lucas and Glenda, Phoenix, Ariz., Daniel and Joan, Mandan, Tim and Carla, Glen Ullin, and Terry and Carletta, Hebron; one daughter and son-in-law, Marthbeth and Brian Knigge, Sandy, Ore.; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Anton, Missoula, Mont., Ed, Salem, Ore., and Raynold, Keizer, Ore.; eight sisters, Barbara Schaff, Glen Ullin, Eleanor Wagner, Glen Ullin, Florence Veitenheimer, Battleground, Wash., Loreine Geck, Mandan, Germaine Sibla, Glen Ullin, Caroline Opp, Bismarck, Regina Hawes, Salem, Ore., and Angelina Reed, Aurora, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty and Agnes; and one brother, Steven. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Glen Ullin)
