Eva N. Schempp, 89, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 in 4000 Valley Square in Grand Forks.
Eva Nancy Klein was born July 18, 1922 in Linton, ND the daughter of Clemens and Ottilia (Schaan) Klein. Eva grew up on the family farm near Hague, ND and was the youngest of 12 children. After graduating from Hague High School in 1940, she began teaching in a one room school. She then decided to attend Ellendale Teachers College and obtained her North Dakota Teaching Certificate. While attending college, she met George Schempp. George and Eva were married December 30, 1952 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hague. Shortly after their marriage, George and Eva embarked on a new adventure as a military family for 21 years. After retiring from the military, they settled in Arvilla, ND. While living in Arvilla, Eva was active in her children's many sports activities and later loved spending time with her grandchildren. Eva was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church and Altar Society in Larimore, ND. George preceded her in death on January 13, 1985.
She is survived by her sons, George (Nancy) Schempp, Rockville, MN, Michael (Donna) Schempp, Jamestown, ND, Donald (Sally) Schempp, Grand Forks, ND, Carl (Barbara) Schempp, Grand Forks, ND, Bruce (Julie) Schempp, Larimore, ND; a daughter, Lea (Harold) Aaland, Holman, WI; her cherished 15 grandchildren: Carla, George, Christopher, Nicole, Heather, Seranda, Mary, Tim, Rachel, Eva, Jacob, Amy, Alexander, Grant, Cole; 4 great-grandchildren, Landen, Veralynn, Emma and Hannah; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; and her 10 brothers and 1 sister.
Mass of Christian Burial: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Rosary : 11:00 a.m. prior to the liturgy in the church on Thursday.
Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy in the church on Thursday.
Burial: 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 in Arvilla Cemetery, Arvilla, ND.
