Funeral for Martin S. Sperle, Napoleon, ND will be Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 10:30 AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church at Napoleon, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church with a prayer service at 7:00 PM also at the Church. Burial will be at St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon, ND.
Martin S. Sperle, son of Sebastian E. and Magdalena (Becker) Sperle was born March 2, 1933 in Logan County. He grew up and attended country school thru the 8th grade. Martin began small grain and dairy farming with his parents. Martin married the love of his life Ann Kuntz on July 20th 1953. Martin and Ann moved into Napoleon in 1999. He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Golden age Club. Martin also served on many school boards. A handyman of the community, Martin did carpentry work, installing carpet and more jobs to numerous to mention. Hobbies included playing accordion for many weddings, anniversary’s and parties, playing cards and bowling. Martin loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always a farmer at heart.
Martin died Monday, March 14, 2016 surrounded by his wife and 13 children at the Napoleon Care Center, Napoleon, ND. He was 83 years old.
Martin is survived by his wife Ann of 62 years and his 13 children, Mike (Nora) Sperle, George (Sue) Sperle, Tina (Mickey) Weigel, Cindy (Wayne) Goehring, Sharon (Kevin) Horsager, Brenda (Vic) Sokolofsky, Colleen (Ron) Fettig, Patty (Bill) Gross, Sheila Horner, Jim (Kellie) Sperle, Missy (Joey) Hilzendeger, Carla (Craig) Kretchman and Brian (Shelly) Sperle; 61 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; brother Leonard (Rosemary) Sperle and sister Anna Rathbun. He was preceded in death by his parents Sebastian and Magdalena, grandchild Brent Lauf and brother-in-law Lee Rathbun.
