The angels are always near to those who are grieving, to whisper to them that their loved ones are safe in the hand of God."
Mary Ann (Doll) Kuntz, 89, Bismarck, passed away Jan. 1, 2011, at St. Alexius Medical Center. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Church of Corpus Christi, Bismarck, with the Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mary was born July 21, 1921, in rural Flasher, Morton County, the daughter of Peter and Ann Mary (Schaff) Doll. She attended rural Morton County School.
Mary married Jerome Kuntz on Jan. 15, 1946, at Fallon Catholic Church. Mary and Jerome farmed northeast of Bismarck for 23 years, before moving to Bismarck in 1969. Mary and Jerome spent many hours together fishing and camping on nearby lakes. She was so proud of her whopper badge for reeling in a 12-pound ling fish; she wore her badge proudly.
Mary worked as an Avon representative and a Tupperware dealer. She loved to quilt and work on crafts. She made all of her children and grandchildren special quilts. Mary took pride in her gardening and cooking favorite family meals and goodies.
Mary volunteered for St. Vincent's at Medcenter One, making quilts and crafts. She entered St. Vincent's Care Center in October 2010 after living with her daughter, Marlya, for one year. She loved the simple life she lived, playing Skip-Bo, Yahtzee and cards. Her grandchildren will always remember her as their Grandma who was "sweet 16" all the time.
Left with fond memories of Mary are one son and three daughters, Jerry and Pat Kuntz, Darlyne and Gary Hanson and Marlya and Mark Hoechst, all of Bismarck, and Valerie and Jack Kolberg, Lincoln; eight grandchildren, Jason and Heidi Kuntz, Bismarck, Aaron Kuntz, Bismarck, Sarah and Kris Kline, Lincoln, Jessy and Erick Hagen, Bismarck, Eric Hanson, Minneapolis, Amanda and Shane Wilkens, Bismarck, Breann and Matt Schauer, Lincoln, and Emily Kolberg, Bismarck; six great-grandchildren and one to be born in June; and three brothers, John and Mag Doll, Washington, Steven Doll, Bismarck, and Bob and Rita Doll, Washington.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerome; her parents; three sisters, Rose, Elizabeth and Pauline; one brother, Jack; and infant siblings.
