Frieda Acheson
Frieda Acheson, 83, Bismarck, and formerly of Linton, died April 2, 1999, in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Joel Sherer officiating. Burial will be in Linton at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, at Bismarck Funeral Home, and will continue at the church one hour prior to services.
Frieda was born 13[1/2] miles east of Linton in Emmons County to Martin and Elizabeth (Hoff) Dockter on April 4, 1915. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and in June of 1928 was confirmed in the lutheran church at Linton.
Frieda married Earl Louis Acheson on Oct. 1, 1941, at Linton. They farmed in the Winona area until September 1957, when they moved to Linton. Earl passed away on May 18, 1959. Frieda was a devout Christian and devouted her life to her church and her Hannah Circle at Peace Lutheran Church. She also taught Sunday School for 19 years. While living in Linton, she made a living for 14 years making quilts.
In August of 1986, Frieda moved to Crescent Manor in Bismarck. In November 1986, she transferred her membership to Faith Lutheran Church. She then joined Friendship Circle and Mary Martha Circle, and was active in Women of the Lutheran Church. Frieda was also active in the Republican Women.
Frieda leaves three daughters and sons-in-law, Neva and Ron Carlisle, Bismarck, Mabel and Jim Cowell, Lake Isabel, and Cora and Art Nagel, Pulaski, Wis.; four granddaughters and four step-grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters and eight step-great-grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline and Harry Rundle, Hopkinsville, Ky., and Regina and John Schwartz, Tucson, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Henry, George and Martin; two sisters, Anna and Selma. Also two sisters and a brother who died in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Faith Lutheran Church or donor's choice.
