Kenneth L. Sager, 79, of Olney, died at 10:03 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2009, at Burgin Manor in Olney.
Mr. Sager was born on March 15, 1929, in Richland County, the son of Harry Elmer and Flossie Mae (Scherer) Sager. He married Delores Dee J. Hearring on November 21, 1953. She preceded him in death on February 28, 1995. He married Nola Mae Jennings Miller on April 25, 2003. She survives.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved life and never knew a stranger and was always ready to strike up a conversation. He served 21 months as PFC in the Army, driving a truck and doing mechanical work during the Korean War from 1951-1953. He later worked for Pure Transportation (1953-1957) and Fred E. Cooper from 1957 to 1968. From 1968 until retirement in 1994, he was a mechanic for UPS for 26 years. He was a loyal and dedicated worker and never was off a day sick in the 26 years at UPS and kept those brown trucks rolling for us. He was also very committed to the American Legion and accepted his responsibility gladly as one of the team for military funerals. He loved traveling with campers and motor homes and had a great enthusiasm for antique tractors and loved going to the antique shows, especially in Florida to the Fly Wheelers Show. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served in various capacities with his presence and time - being an usher, serving on council and volunteering many times for maintenance projects.
Mr. Sager is survived by his wife, Nola Mae Sager; son, David K. Sager; daughter, Julia Rodeheaver; son, Timothy L. Sager; stepson, Steven L. Miller; brother, Paul L. Sager; sister, Carol Clay; seven grandchildren, Cassie, Mitchell, Jordan, Christopher, Shelby, Devon and Bradley; four step-grandchildren, Adam, Nathan, Jesse and Dustin; and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife.
Services will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Gary B. Ryden officiating.
Burial will be in Crest Haven Cemetery in rural Claremont with full military rites performed by Olney veterans.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Olney.
