Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of the Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Elmer Fenton officiating. Burial will be in the Haven Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Scherer was born in Coles Co. on April 29, 1896, to Andrew Monts and Nana Nicholson. She was married on June 24, 1917, to Chester Scherer, who died Jan. 16, 1972. She was a housewife and was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church. Preceding her death, in addition to her husband and parents, were one sister, Ella Hartleroad, and one brother. Surviving are one son, Russell, Lawrenceville; one daughter, Mrs. Howard (Vera) Shaw; three sisters, Ruth Blackford, Olney; Minnie Hundley, Olney; Elena Bogard, Clearwater, Fla.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
