Birth: Mar. 25, 1902 Death: Aug. 28, 1976 Sycamore Howard County Indiana, USA Elza Raymond Scherer, 74, of Claremont Rt. 1, died Saturday at Sycamore, where he was visiting the family of one of his sons. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Ray Zumstein officiating. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today (Monday) at the Zirkle Funeral Home, and for one hour before the service time Tuesday at the church. The family requests that those wishing to offer memorials do so in the form of donations to the Trinity Lutheran Church. Mr. Scherer was born March 25, 1902, son of Daniel and Amanda Goss Scherer. On Nov. 23, 1927, he was united in marriage to Freda Burgener in Olney. Surviving are his wife, Freda; two sons, Raymond L. Scherer of Claremont rt. 2 and Ro Scherer of Sycamore; a daughter, Mrs. Eldon (Anita) Clodfelter of West Salem rt. 2; two brothers, Roscoe J. Scherer of Olney rt. 2 and Virgil Scherer of Claremont rt. 1; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Walters of Lawrenceville rt. 1; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Harry, and three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Phillips, Mrs. Flossie Sager and an infant Mabel Scherer. Obituary from Olney Daily Mail.
