Charles F. Finsel, 82, of Findlay passed to eternal life, peacefully at 8:20 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green, OH. He was born on on May 23, 1931 to the late Ralph and Helen (Hoffbauer) Finsel in Hancock County. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha (Schwartzmiller) whom he married at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel, Ohio. Charles is also survived by his children: Mark (Linda) of Findlay, Lucy (Tom) Bell of Toledo, Edward (Tracie) of Findlay, Elizabeth of Rifle, Colorado, Patrick of Lizton, Indiana, Joan (Mitch) Draving of Lantana, Texas, Thomas of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Timothy (Nella) of Finday; grandchildren: Cole, Tayler and Halee Finsel, Nicholas, Benjamin and Melissa Finsel, Colin and William Draving; sisters: Mildred (Hubert) Naderer of Fostoria and Mary (Herbert) Gabel of Fremont. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Norman Finsel, Ursula Maciejewski, Barbara Zoltanski and Catherine Nofzinger. He was a 1949 graduate of St. Wendelin High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. Then he moved back to Hancock County in 1958. During his early years, he was an ambitious dairy and grain farmer; always self-employed. In 1996, he established C.F. Enterprises: a business which re-conditioned hardware & small machines and marketed in a four-state area. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish for 55 years and served on the Parish Council in the early 1980's. His later years were lived with a diagnosis of dementia. Martha would like to request that friends and business acquaintances remember the person he was before his decline and forgive him for his transgressions. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2013 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay with a scripture service at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, downtown. Msgr. Michael Hohenbrink will officiate and burial will follow in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Findlay.
