Jeffery “Jeff” Stephen Schafer, 50, of Tiffin, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at his home.
He was born June 24, 1965, in Tiffin, to George Stephen and Dianne (Wright) Schafer, who survive in Tiffin.
Survivors also include two sisters, Fayanne (Daniel) Corfman of Old Fort and Victoria (Troy) Stillberger of Sycamore; his grandmother, Luella Wright of Tiffin; two nieces, Christine and Amy Corfman; two nephews, Kobe and Kyle Stillberger; very close friends, Carla and Rick Brown, and their son, Anson Brown, all of Tiffin; and good friend, Tony Schindler, also of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by grandfather, Paul J. Wright; grandparents, George W. and Amy Schafer; and his dog, Toby.
Jeffery graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army Dec. 7, 1983Dec. 10, 1987, and was stationed in Germany. He mostly worked in Fostoria but for the past four years had worked at Toledo Molding & Die in Tiffin as a press operator. Jeffery was a member of AMVETS Post No. 48 and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing at Lake Erie and Lake Pymatuning. He also was very handy, a precise woodworker and an avid Cleveland Browns fan. Jeffery was big hearted and loved his nieces and nephews.
His funeral will begin at 6 p.m. today, Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Military services will be conducted by United Veterans Council. There will be no burial at this time.
Friends may visit with the family from 2 p.m. until the time of his funeral today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Seneca County, a local veteran’s group or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
