Bernice SeibertBernice E. Seibert, 84, of New Baden, Ill., born Dec. 4, 1923, in Mascoutah Township, St. Clair County, Ill., died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden, Ill. Mrs. Seibert was the owner/operator of B's Beauty Shop in New Baden, Ill., for 50 years. She was a member of St. George Parish and the Altar Sodality, the American Legion Post 321 Auxiliary, the New Baden Senior Citizens and a former member of the Mater Dei Mothers and Friends Club.She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer Louis Seibert, whom she married Oct. 15, 1941, and who died May 29, 1983; her parents, Joseph and Berdelle, nee Sommers, Mattern; a grandson, Tim Seibert; three brothers, Alvis Mattern, Virgil Mattern and Eugene Mattern; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Virginia Mattern, Helen Mattern, Marie Mattern, Irene and Ferd Foppe, Alvera and Henry Schwarz and Viola and Paul Micheel. Paul was Bernice's special friend following Viola's death.Surviving are her children, Mary Lou Seibert of New Baden, Ill., Ruth A. Billhartz of New Baden, Ill., Wilmer J. (Terry) Seibert of Trenton, Ill., Charles L. (Helen) Seibert of Trenton, Ill., and Bryan L. (Lydia) Seibert of Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchildren, Patti Billhartz, Dan (Jenny) Billhartz, Lori (Jason) Zurliene, Glenn Brendel, Sherry Brendel, Ricardo (Grace) Seibert, Yesenia (Adrain) Melgoza, Bryan (Stephanie) Seibert, Jr., and Ben Seibert; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.Memorials may be made to the donor's choice and will be received at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hempenfuneralhome.com.Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden, Ill. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m., the Senior Citizens will visit at 5 p.m. and the American Legion Auxiliary will visit the funeral home at 7 p.m. all on Friday. Funeral: Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden, Ill., with the Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden, Ill.
