Irene M. Foppe, 87, of Breese, died Monday, July 24, 2006 at her home. She was born September 8, 1918 in New Baden, daughter of Louis and Augusta (Schnider) Seibert. She married Ferdinand H. Foppe on June 22, 1938 at St. George Church in New Baden and he preceded her in death on October 22, 1965.
She is survived by her children, Jerome W. Foppe and wife Jane of Sun City Center, FL, Pat Foppe of St. Ann, MO, Ronald L. Foppe and wife Carole of Jamestown, IL and Mary M. Hall and husband Hal of Belleville; a son-in-law, Bob Iverson of O?Fallon, MO; 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith M. Iverson, a granddaughter, Charity A. Peek; one brother, Wilmer Seibert and two sisters, Viola Micheel and Alveria Schwarz.
Mrs. Foppe was the first cook at the Breese Nursing Home and cooked there for 25 years without missing a day. She was a member of St. Augustine Parish and Altar Sodality in Breese.
A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Rev. Louis Studer, OMI officiating. Interment will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2006 and from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be received at the funeral home.
