Bernice Breiner, 96, of Erie, died at 3:05 P.M., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center at Chanute.
She was born August 11, 1920 at Doniphon, MO, a daughter of Jess and Estille Jane (Cook) Epperson. She was raised at Doniphon and Macon, MO and later moved to Ft. Madison, IA as an adult. She moved to Parsons in 1965 and to Chanute in 1975. She moved to Erie in 2000 where she was currently living.
On July 8, 1967 she was united in marriage to LeRoy “Budd” Breiner at Hamilton, IL. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2013.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Erie, and also the George L. Hendricks Post 102, American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed needlework, cooking and canning.
Survivors include: one son and daughter in-law – Darryl and Carolyn McKisson, Leasburg, MO;
Seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the First Baptist Church at Erie, with Rev. Danny Flippo officiating. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery at Chanute. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Wednesday evening at the PIERCE-CARSON-WALL FUNERAL HOME. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 182, Erie, KS 66762.
